Eagle-eyed fans spot potential AI Generated art in Black Ops 6. Call of Duty's first Christmas event of the year is underway and one reward has raised a few eyebrows and sent the COD community into a bit of a frenzy.
It is thought that one particular piece of free gear from the 'Merry Mayhem' event is actually AI generated, and not an original piece by a Treyarch artist.
Fans believe this is a product of AI after several members of the community pointed out that Zombie Santa in the free-to-obtain Loading Screen, 'Necroclaus' has 6 fingers on one hand.

AI generated art will quite often make simple mistake, such as an extra finger or two, eyes misaligned, or general shaping of items in an incorrect manner. Santa clearly shouldn't have six fingers but maybe it can be explained.
We have seen two rather sensible explanations as to why it may look like Zombie Santa has 6 fingers when in fact it could just be an illusion. The first, most unlikely in our opinion, is that its a road curb or step that just so happens to align with his hand, making it a appear that he has a 6th digit.
The second, more plausible explanation, is that his finger is split into two pieces and it's simply one finger sliced in half, making it seem like there is an extra one.

For a long time now fans have suspected that Call of Duty was using AI generated art in it's video games. Given that so many challenges come with some form of artwork, we wouldn't be surprised if the gaming giant used the odd artificial intelligence to rustle up emblems, stickers, decals, loading screens, and other cosmetic items.
Generally the practice is frowned upon in the industry by fans as it is so often clearly not done by a human hand. Honestly, we don't understand why Call of Duty feels the need to supply artwork for every single challenge that players complete when a chunk of XP would be a much more fitting reward. It's not like players use 99.99% of the freebies anyway.
